Local Voter Guide
Stand Up Blue ValleyDr. David Benson was BV Schools Superintendent from 1993 to 2004 - an 11-year period during which the district grew by 8,000 students, 2 high schools, 4 middle schools, and 6 elementary schools! He was elected to the Kansas Legislature in 2018, where he served as a State Representative from 2019-20. He has a grandchild in Blue Valley Schools.
Before his tenure as BV Superintendent, Benson was a high school teacher and school administrator. He served as superintendent in several other districts. He was named Kansas Superintendent of the Year in 2001. He served on the Boards of the Greater KC and OP Chambers of Commerce. He served in the US Army Reserves.
In the KSLeg, Benson voted FOR BV Schools - against a tax break for corporations and a small fraction of ultra-wealthy individuals, which would have underfunded our schools. He also voted NO on using tax dollars to fund private schools.
Benson’s background in education, long history of living and working in Blue Valley, and experience in the KSLeg will make him a valuable Board of Education member.
