The Elections experience helps you see the races on your ballot and how candidates and measures align with your stated priorities.
Data we collect for Elections.
- Address (to determine your precinct and ballot).
- Answers to issue questions and alignment scores/rationales (to personalize your guide).
- Optional contact details you provide to save or send your guide (email or phone)
How we use this data.
To show your ballot, personalize your private guide, and—only if you choose—to send your guide.
What we don’t do.
We do not use your address, answers, or alignments for advertising, and we do not sell or share them for cross‑context behavioral ads.
Retention.
Address is session‑only unless you save your guide or request reminders; answers/alignments persist until you delete them or until the current election cycle ends; emails/phone numbers used for one‑time sends are retained only as needed to deliver the message.
Content standards.
Candidate and measure pages draw on human‑reviewed sources and locally developed voter guides that our team reviews and edits before publication. Report issues via ”Report an Issue”, accessible in the navigation across all post-onboarding pages.
Scope.
Elections is a Change.org experience. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply in full; this page provides Elections‑specific details.
Availability.
United States only.Age. You must be 13 or older to use Elections.
CPRA Notice (for California residents).
We collect the following categories of personal information for the Elections experience: identifiers (your address and optional email/phone), geolocation (districts derived from your address), and inferences about preferences (alignment scores from your responses). We use this information to provide a precinct‑accurate ballot and a personalized, private guide, and—if you ask us—to send your guide or reminders. We do not sell or share your address, answers, or alignment data for cross‑context behavioral advertising. Retention: address is session‑only unless you save your guide or request reminders; answers/alignments persist until you delete them or until the current election cycle ends. Precinct boundaries don’t match ZIP codes; a full address is needed to show the correct races and measures for your ballot.

We convert your address into the voting districts that apply to you and use those districts to display your ballot and candidate/measure information.

By default, we keep your address only for this session.

You can use the product without entering your address.

Survey Information Collection (Values & Alignment)
What we collect.
Your responses to issue questions (e.g., priorities and agreement sliders). What we infer. From your responses, we create alignment scores and a private rationale for your ballot.
How we use it.
Only to personalize your Elections guide.
How long we keep it.
We keep your responses for 5 years or until you request to delete them, whichever comes first.
Privacy by default.
Your answers and alignments are not public. Others won’t see them unless you explicitly share.
Your choices.
You can email help@change.vote at any time to request deletion of your data.
You can skip questions, request deletion of your data, or regenerate your guide.
