Knapp grew up in the public schools of Johnson County, where she has lived most of her life. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Kansas and an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance from UMKC. She is CFO of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. She has spent the last 15 years of her career in youth-serving nonprofits, and received the National Service to Youth Award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of St Louis in 2022.

Knapp currently serves on the KSHSAA board, and spent one term on their Executive Committee - bringing experience in athletics and activities to the BV BOE. She served on the nominating committee for KASB (Kansas Association of School Boards), and serves on the BVRec Commission.

She has been a tireless advocate for BV Schools, making numerous trips to Topeka, and even to Washington, DC to lobby for legislation benefitting BV Schools.

Knapp has a BVNW grad and two students currently at BVNW.
