State Senator - District 11, California State Senate
Supporters point to a record of taking on tough challenges and delivering results on healthcare, housing, immigrant rights, and LGBTQ protections. The backing suggests confidence in energetic, effective leadership with strong appeal across labor, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and Democratic circles. These endorsements reflect broad support for a candidate seen as ready to push ambitious policy goals in Congress.

Wiener has passed major pro-housing legislation in hostile conditions: SB 35 (automatic approval for housing in noncompliant cities), SB 423 (extended that framework), and SB 79 (legalized mid-rise apartments near transit statewide). He gets results over rhetoric. GrowSF doesn't align with him on AI regulation and some public safety positions, but he's the strongest candidate for delivering on the issues that shape SF's quality of life and cost of living.
This is a race between Wiener, Saikat Chakrabarti, and in a distant third Connie Chan. Connie Chan is a terrible supervisor. She often emits word salad in her public statements, is an obstructionist in every way that makes the city more unaffordable and unpleasant. Saikat is a rich dude that is sad that he isn’t a billionaire, has no real ties to SF, and is trying to buy this seat based on his personal fortune and his ties to AOC. This is particularly odd since AOC has repeatedly refused to endorse him or even say anything nice about him. This is like when you call a candidate’s last job for a reference and they say, “Yes, I can confirm he was employed by us” and nothing else. Scott Wiener is a wildly effective legislator. He builds coalitions around the bills he introduces and gets them passed. You may know him for his track record around housing, but did you know he passed a bill to regulate the insurance company pharmacy benefit managers that inflate the price of your medicines? These PBMs have been fleecing the insured and underpaying your local pharmacy for years, and Wiener got landmark legislation passed to start unwinding their influence over the market. Vote for Scott, and be sad we didn’t get him in the state legislature for longer because of stupid term limits.

Do you want California's most relentless legislator zeroing in on universal healthcare, housing, immigrant and LGBTQ protections? Or do you want vibes? There’s only one candidate capable of filling Pelosi’s shoes in Congress. That’s Scott Wiener.
