We need more out-of-the-box strategies to win elections to protect our rights in NC. Kate Barr is doing just that! She changed her affiliation as a longtime Democrat to run in the Republican primary against Tim Moore, one of the architects of gerrymandering in NC. Kate is running on a platform of Fair Maps, Fair Play, Fair Prices and Fair Chances. These are values aligned with RWB & Troublemakers in CD14.

Teacher Kelly VanHorn along with 5 other teachers across NC, has decided it's time to make an out-of-the-box move and run for the state legislature in Republican primaries. Kelly along with these teachers are running on a platform to protect & support our public schools. Fighting for public schools & making bold moves are pillars of our work at RWB. This was a no-brainer for our Troublemakers. Plus,Tricia Cotham’s got to go!

Rep. Cunningham’s vote to take away even more money from NC public schools to give it to wealthy families to use for private school vouchers was a bridge too far. Her vote to make it even more unsafe for Charlotte immigrant families, made it clear, it was time for new representation in HD106. Rodney Sadler’s decades of advocacy work for moral leadership in our NCGA, has evolved to the point of putting himself on the ballot. Sadler plans to continue his fight for the protection & dignity of every resident in HD106; but this time from a seat within the chambers of the NCGA. RWB Troublemakers share this value and are excited to support Mr.Sadler!

Navigating NCGA bills that have nice sounding phrases such as “parents rights”, can be politically challenging for many legislators who may miss the underlying intent & negative impact such bills may have on families. Ms. Levy’s decades of work in public health, equity strategy and fight against harmful legislation, assures our Troublemakers of her ability to navigate such bills & protect their families when they are put to a vote.

Sheriff McFadden from day one of his first term in office, has stood up for residents of Meck County against unscrupulous ICE tactics! This has resulted in attack after attack against McFadden by Republican extremists. He has not backed down on protecting the rights of Meck county citizens & families. RWB Troublemakers love bold, courageous candidates like Sheriff McFadden!
