Representative - District 45, US House of Representatives
Supporters praise a record of lowering costs, taking on powerful interests, and putting working families at the center of state leadership. Endorsers also point to support for affordable health care, stronger transit and broadband, and a governing style rooted in evidence, independence, and attention to everyday Californians.

Katie Porter is largely known for two things: her aggressive questioning of CEOs using her famous whiteboard and her infamous yelling at a staffer that was caught on video. Ultimately, both are superficial reasons to support or dismiss her candidacy. Unlike our current governor, we believe Porter would be laser-focused on Californians, not on her next job. Her combination of policy smarts, political courage and independence puts her in the best position to pursue the evidence-based solutions California needs to thrive.
Childcare is more expensive than college tuition in California, yet the only candidate talking about childcare—the only candidate with a concrete plan to bring costs down—is Katie Porter. In a state with the world's fourth largest economy, there's no reason that families working full-time should struggle to make ends meet. Katie doesn't just talk about affordability; she helped families stay in their homes during the foreclosure crisis, she confronted CEOs and Trump officials in Congress to bring costs down, and she brings her lived experience as a single mom of three to write policies that will deliver real relief for families. Vote Mama is proud to endorse her to be California's first woman and first mama governor.

Katie Porter is a fighter and a strong progressive who is ready to defend California against Trump on day one. As members of Congress, we were partners together on the Oversight Committee, and I'm proud to call Katie a mentor and the first Congressmember to support me in my race for Congress. I'm excited to fight alongside her for Orange County and California families.
